I’m afraid this will come as a major disappointment to many How to Train Your Dragon fans in the US and Canada, but I’ve just received word that DreamWorks and the organizers of the show have decided to postpone the remainder of the North American tour in favor of taking the show overseas earlier than expected. In particular, they state that the show will be going to China next. A spokesperson for the show states “We are thrilled to announce that we will be bringing our tour to China. We’ve had a terrific time touring North America. Thanks to all of our fans for the incredible memories!”

This was a most unexpected move, especially since they originally stated they would be visiting around 80 North American cities. Instead, they ended up visiting only 22 cities. As such, the tour unfortunately missed most of the midwest, south and mid-Atlantic states, leaving behind a lot of disappointed fans. Cutting nearly 60 cities from the tour represents a major change of plans, but no reasons for the change have been stated.

As one can expect, legions of fans in the affected regions are extremely disappointed. In fact, fan Terry Hardie has started a petition to urge the organizers to continue the North American tour sooner rather than later. Click here to view and sign the petition to bring the show to more North American cities.

Of course, fans of the How to Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular who live outside the US are understandably excited about this news since it means the show could be visiting Europe and other continents sooner than originally anticipated. Previously, the show was not expected to visit Europe until late 2013 or early 2014. But with the postponement of the rest of the US tour, the show’s appearance in Europe might happen sooner.  It’s also possible the show could return to the US after China to continue touring the regions that have been missed so far. Stay tuned for more updates.

We will continue to bring you more news on this change of schedule as it comes out. It’s safe to say that the show will eventually return to the US to continue the tour, especially since Walking with Dinosaurs toured the US twice, and we’ll bring you news of any US tour date announcements as they come out.

Please feel free to post your comments below, but please keep in mind that this is a news and fan site that is not affiliated with DreamWorks. In other words, please don’t be angry with us since we’re an independent site. We’re fans just like you and we wanted to see a complete North American tour like everyone else. Fans who are disappointed by the postponement of the remainder of the North American tour are urged to sign the above petition since it’s the most constructive thing you can do right now.
