an animator works on the animations of Toothless the dragon in How to Train Your DragonIf you’re an animator or someone who’s studying to be an animator or one of the other positions in the animation production world, then DreamWorks Animation is now accepting resumes for both jobs and internships. Here’s your chance to get in and be part of the magic that brings Toothless and other DreamWorks animated characters to life on the screen. Take a look at some examples of the positions that are currently available (note that openings change all the time, so be sure to check the website given below):

  • Character Effects R&D team – opportunity to develop tools and algorithms that have a direct impact on DreamWorks movie productions – looking for candidates with experience and interest in character effects like hair, fur, cloth, and/or feathers.
  • Casting Intern – the Intern will gain knowledge of the casting process and how this process is applied to the animation industry. The Intern will learn the technical process of how the department presents acting choices, including choosing appropriate work to represent the actors. Although specializing in animation, the Intern will gain insight into how a Casting department functions and how they are utilized in the production process.
  • Concept drawings of Toothless the dragon from How to Train Your DragonTV Animatic Editor – The Animatic Editor will generate timed video of storyboard panels, audio, and sound effects to serve as animation reference. Responsible for generating a rough assembly cut of the episode based on the Director’s notes and vision.
  • Feature Production Intern – Interns will be assigned to a feature film and gain insight into production office staff responsibilities. Specific exposure will depend on department, but can range from front-end development/story to back-end lighting and effects.
